Note: these informations can change very quickly! They count for Swiss passport holders.
Status March 2005

Visas are normally only valid for up to 6 month. So I was not able to organise all the visas at home already. They would have had expired already by the time I had come to the countries.
The only visa I got at home already was the one for Iran. In switzerland you get within 10 days a 90 day visa without problems! En route you will hardly get more than 30 days (wich can be extended). Embassy of Iran in Switzerland

Most of the visas I organised in Ankara. I choosed Ankara, because it fit well with my timing and it is one of the better places to get the stan-visas.
First difficulty is to find the embassies. They are very far outside the town. Almost all adresses I found on the internet, in books or on maps are incorrect. The tourist information could help me best. Almost all the (stan-) Embassies are outside the town map you get from tourist information. Taxi drivers don`t know the address of the embassies (rather confuse all the stans) but they can find the addresses if you have them. Best bis to take a bus to as close as possible and then get a taxi. The 2nd 3rd time it will be easier... :-)
