12 month eastwards from my hometown all the way to Hong Kong

Kailash! ...a pilgrimage

That a longer trip would be going to Tibet again, was no question to myself.

Actually I wanted to go to western Tibet in 2002 already. But after the 9/11, travelling in this regions was not possible anymore and I went to south america instead.

Planning a new journey, first priority was, to try it again. Having a look at my personal 'wish-list', the trip became longer and longer. So why not the big trip...?

This is, what my plans look like, at this time:

From Switzerland through the balkans to Turkey
Across Turkey and Iran, with a side trip to the Caucasus
But now heading for the real mountains: Central asia with the highlight Pamir-Highway in Tadjikistan
Passing Kashgar, then across western Tibet to Mt. Kailash and further to Lhasa

After about 10 month, I hope to arrive in Lhasa. How the trip would go on, once I really reach Lhasa is open, but there would be plenty of options...

Of course all of this are only plans and wishes. A lot can happen on such a long trip. The only thing for sure is, that I will be starting in january! Not quite the perfect time to travel in the alps, but that way it can only get warmer...

With this journey, I don't want to break records, prove anything to anyone, nor am I presenting products of a sponsor. I do it, because I want to fulfill a dream, because I love the adventure and because I want to see the people and the land along my way.

One of the goals of this trip ist Mt. Kailash, the holiest mountain in Tibet. For many years I have been facinated by this place. To reach it by bicycle is my dream. So this journey is also kind of a pilgrimage. A journey to myself...
