On all my tours, the big mountain ranges (Himalaya, Andes, Atlas, Alpes) have always played a major role.
High passes have always attracted me. I usually plan my route so as to cycle as many passes as possible.
All of the passes presented here, I cycled myself.
Of course, I have my favourites among all these passes. Here is my selection:
If cycling passes was an olympic dicipline (why not...), this pass should be the place to hold the race!
A unbelievable pass. Who had the idea of building a road over this mountain range, that is mostly covered by glaciers...?
Terrific landscape, with views of the gaciers and the majestic Nevado Huascaran on the other side of the valley. A rough, unpaved road and many meters to climb make it un unforgettable ride.
The moment you reach the top of this pass and the view over the turquoise colored Yamdrok lake opens, is undescribable.
A unique place of magic beauty!
Marvellous view of the giant Durung Durung glacier and the two 7000ers Kun & Nun. Combined with a rough dirt track, that passes interessting villages, make the ride to Zanskar a true highlight.
