The Birdsville Track is a 530km outback track from Marree to Birdsville.
Scenery is often rather monotonous, it is mostly a semi desert. Nevertheless this is a fantastic ride across the endless outback.
The surface is mostly quite good (better than the Oodnadatta track when I was there).
It is very important to check the weather. In case there was rain, wide areas will be flooded and because the surface is clay the track quickly turns into a sticky muddy mess that is impossible to cycle. After such a rain the road will be officially closed.
You cannot get lost on this route as it is well signposted. A good map will do.

In Marree and Birdsville you can get water and there is a little general store. About half way is Mungeranie, a Roadhouse. Here you can eat but there is nothing else to buy. Water you have to buy. There is no other water along the route but there are about 4 stations that you could go to.
Good shopping options in the south are in Leigh Creek and Roxby Downs, in the north only in Boulia.
