A short but great route through the jungle in the south east of Laos. Many river crossings and a narrow but good path right through the bush. Route 18A from Attapu back to Route 13 at the Mekong.
The route can only be cycled in the dry season as there are no bridges over the many rivers.
The first 40km from Attapu are a pretty good dirt track. From here on there are about 5 big and many smaller river crossings. It is quite a narrow path through the bush. Hardly any traffic maybe a lonely motorcyclist. For the last 30km the road is more open again and dusty.
In Attapu there are some guesthouses. In Ban Pha Po there is one little, very nice guesthouse. Ban Pha Pho is about 7km off the track, about 17km before you reach route 13. The total 110km should be possible in one day.
Along the first 40km from Attapu there are several little villages where you can get water. After that not much anymore. But there are some clean rivers to get water from.
Take food from Attapu.
